Chris Griswold wins 2009 AIX Championship, 4th in Spec Miata in Utah.
The brand new 1999 Cobra hit the track for the first time at the National Auto Sport Associations National Championships in Tooele Utah September10th - 13th 2009. The car proved very quickly that it was a contender right out of the box. It placed 2nd in Thursdays race, and won Fridays race. That gave Griswold the pole position for the Sunday National Championship race. Griswold quickly pulled 4 seconds a lap on the field, and maintained a 16 second lead to handily take the win in the American Iron Xtreme class for the 2nd time in three years.
The highly competitive Spec Miata class gave Griswold a boost of confidence qualifying 8th in the 40 car field. A bad start dropped Griswold back to 12th after the first lap. One by one, Griswold worked his way back up the field to the 4th position, just off the podium.
2009 starts out perfect for CG Racing, 4 poles, 4 wins in AIX
The first four races are once dominated by Chris Griswold in the #17 AIX Mustang for 2009. Road America started out cold and wet, but overall a nice start to the season. Putnam Park Indiana had some great AIX racing with Griswold taking the win over the Elliot Fishers Mustang by just a couple seconds at the line.
Slow start in Spec Miata for CG Racing in 2009
The 2009 season started poorly in Spec Miata. We blew a motor at Road America while leading in class on Friday in the 3 hour endurance race. Putnam brought us back with 5th place on Sunday. Blackhawk Farms had some great racing all weekend long, finishing with two second place finishes on Saturday. Sunday went even better with the first win for Spec Miata of the season.

A bump from another car sends the CG Racing Mustang into the wall at 125 mph at Mid-Ohio. The car will be fixed in time for the Nationals coming up in Mid September. Click Here for progress pictures.
CG Racing wins at Putnam Park, MAM & Autobahn Country Club, and Road America.
The 2007 Midwest Championship is locked up by CG Racing for the 3 consecutive year. Details to follow after we get the car back together for Nationals.
2007 Season Starts off with a brisk pace in Iowa Speedway in Newton Iowa
The first race weekend of 2007 started off with beautiful weather in the 70's. CG Racing grabbed the pole position both days, but a leaking oil hose had the #17 Mustang in the pits for the first 8 laps of the race season. The effort after the new hose was made rewarded the AIX Mustang with an AIX track record 49.870 second lap at over 93 MPH average. Sunday again had the #17 Mustang on the pole and this time Chris Griswold lead the field from start to finish. The end of the race had the blue monster nearly lapping the entire field, twice. G & V Machine Sponsors Season Finale at Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin 10/21/06 & 10/22/06
The last race weekend of 2006 started off cool with temperatures around 40 degrees. The CG Racing #17 Mustang grabbed the pole both days with a dry track. Race time however brought a fairly heavy rain that proved to be quite a handful for all the American Iron series racers. We are proud to announce G & V Machine as a new race sponsor for the Midwest region of NASA. G & V provided a top notch sit -down dinner at historic Siebkins in Elkhart Lake on Saturday night as an overnight snow fell. Sunday was dry but cool with temperatures in the high 30's. Check out the full race report Here.
CG Racing again sweeps to top spots at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet Illinois. 7/22/06 & 7/23/06
The 2nd running of NASA races again has Griswold on the pole on Saturday and race wins both days. The #17 AIX Mustang missed qualifying on Sunday due to a bad distributor and had to start at the back of the field on Sunday. The traffic getting to the front of the field would only take 1 lap to pull into first position after passing 13 cars on the first lap. Click here for a full race report.
Midwest Region Inaugural Race at Brainerd International Raceway has #17 AIX Mustang Perfect with 2 Poles and 2 Race Wins. 5/27/06 & 5/28/06
The first visit to Brainerd International Raceway produced some extremely high top speeds on Memorial Day Weekend. The track doubles as a drag strip normally, but can also host road racers on the 3.1 mile road course that uses the drag strip as the main straight. When combined, the burnout area, 1/4 mile drag strip, and the shut down strip, had the main straight of over 4700 feet. The nearly mile long straightaway produced 175 mile an hour top speeds against the win in the #17 AIX Mustang. Clink Here for a full race report on the weekend.
Midwest Region Round 2 at Putnam Park, Combined Event with Ohio/Indiana Region has CG Racing #17 Taking Saturday Pole & Overall Win. 5/20/06
The well attended event had 26 cars in the AI, AIX, AIV & CMC classes all together, a new record in this region. Saturday had the #17 AIX Mustang of Chris Griswold on the AIX pole. The Saturday Race had Griswold take off at the start and finish 1st overall. Sunday morning maintenance found some problems with the new 9 inch axle that would keep the #17 AIX Mustang out of competition for the day. Clink Here for a full race report on the weekend.
Midwest Region Starts off Season at Blackhawk Farms Raceway April 16th & 17th 2006.
The 2006 season started off a bit slow for CG racing in 2006. Some mechanical gremlins from all the winter upgrades kept Chris Griswold from turning any laps in practice and qualifying on Saturday. That would have him starting at the back of the pack for race one of the season at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit Illinois. The weather was beautiful for Saturday with temperatures in the 70's, not bad for April. Starting in the back of the pack the #17 AIX Mustang slowly gained confidence in the new manual braking system. After only a few laps Chris Griswold worked his way to the front of the pack and took the overall win! Sunday's weather was not so nice as rain showers kept the track wet for qualifying, and left some rather large puddles in a few areas around the track for Sunday's Race. The #17 AIX Mustang this time started from pole position and did not look back in the race. It turned out to be a good start to the season. Clink Here for a full race report on the weekend.
Midwest Region Season Ending Battle at Putnam Park has CG Racing Clinching the AIX Title! 10/8/05
The combined Midwest & Ohio/Indiana NASA region season ending weekend provided the highest car count of the year and also the highest attendance at Putnam Park for the entire year. The well attended event provided some great racing with the four race weekend. Each day had a qualifying session followed by 2 separate sprint races. Chris Griswold of CG Racing again broke his own track record set last year at the same event with a 1:13.901 for the 1.85 mile course. Two race wins before a freak mechanical issue crept up were enough to clinch the Inaugural Midwest Region AIX Title. The weekend has filled with some great racing, check it out here.
Round 3 at Autobahn Country Club - South Track has CG Racing leaving with a PERFECT 2 Poles & 2 Wins. 7/9/05
The second visit to the brand new Autobahn Country Club brought some very hot & humid weather to the South Track. The temperature during the race was 95 degrees and extremely humid, and a lot hotter in the cars. The faster, longer south track again had Chris Griswold and his Maximum Motorsports / DSS Racing / G & V Machine sponsored Mustang with both Pole positions, both wins, and the lap record at 1:33.298. Click here for the entire weekend race report.
NASA visits Autobahn Country Club in Joliet Illinois, CG Racing grabs 1st & 3rd.

We managed to escape with two 2nd places in the rain events. Next year the plan is to get a dedicated set of rain tires. Since then, CG Racing has been on a roll with 13 wins, and Qualifying Pole Position in class in every event!

May 11th, 2004
The blue and white G & V Machine / Maximum Motorsports #17 AIX car made it’s 2004 debut at the 40th Anniversary Mustang celebration in Nashville on April 17. Upgrades for this year include a G-Force T-101 transmission from Roltek Transmissions, Stop-Tech brakes, new cylinder heads on the DSS motor, a Stef’s dry sump oiling system, and larger fender flares. While not a competition event, the track day gave the CG Racing team a chance to get a number of hot laps on the car. “The Mustang event in Nashville was a great opportunity to shake out this years upgrades” stated driver Chris Griswold. “It is great when all the hard work from over the winter pays off”. Chris intends on running the remainder of the American Iron Extreme season with his first competition event scheduled for Putnam Park May 22-23. He will also be competing in the majority of the Midwestern Council Series racing in the ASR category.
